High five....

to myself for getting done in time, so far.
The drawers are ready, with knobs and handles.
Three thin coats of linseed oil in pale grey.
I've trigged the camera to go for the little daylight that was left,
therefore I'm out of sharpness in these pictures.
But still for the fun of it and to remember the utter chaos
in the kitchen pretty much one year ago.
This Christmas the kitchen is almost ready, the tricky part has been
to find a similar piece of marble for the counter tops that matches with
the old existing one .... I'm not there yet but it can wait!
So here I am, having my coffee break before dealing with
another chaos. It's downstairs in the basement.
I'm finally having my office set up again!
Warm thanks to you readers

Red and white

I'm not really that into Christmas reds,
still this Amaryllis is a fav and a tradition among others.
It's hard to find this deep red one and this year I was lucky
to have one early in the season. It's about to come into flower and will
probably be over before Christmas. I do hope to find a new one this week.
Yesterday the house was dressed for festivities with friends and family.
The little silver ornaments were hung in thin metal wires.
Today we're slowly cleaning up the house......starting all over in a couple of days!
Happy 3rd advent

Ingen jul utan vättar & väsen i vårt hus ❤

Never alone......

this is the first sunday of advent '12
and today I was lucky
there was time for a late breakfast together having
some saffron bread with the second cup of coffee
and there was time together to fix some of the heavy arrangements
that come with the traditions of welcoming December here in Sweden.
But as very often in a big family working in the air industry,
check-in and take-off were calling upon my husband
and he picked up his bags and left for the airport.
Still I'm never alone as long as we have Kletus, the most charming company
who loves to do things with all of us in the family.
I had to be fast taking his picture this morning,
he's eagerly waiting for me to start on the Christmas ornaments.

This year I had tiny silver ones for the little tree on the new
sun porch that will also be the first year with this arrangement.
We'll be back once we're done having silver threads put on for
hanging the decor to the little tree.
This Christmas it looks like we're all going to be together,
family members are joining in, some not traveling, some off duty
and some coming home from around the world.

Senior catwalk

Believe it or not,
these pictures are shot at 4 pm this November friday.
It's really a dark time of the year here in Stockholm.
I still seem to forget about it every year, I look as surprised
as I did last year when I finally surrender to fact that we're up
for a couple of months with the very short daylight.

Kitty just had a little old stepladder placed by the
kitchen counter, to make it easier for him to get to
his glass with water. He refuses to have it served
on the floor nowadays. The little senior rules this
household, always has and always will...we don't mind

Pipelines in a corner

taking care of leftovers have always fascinated me.
so I decided on constructing a few racks for the showroom
this was much easier that I ever expected and one rack came out
in the shape of a double for some of the samples, hangers and books
I just need to paint them shelves....those brushes seem to be a part of my life

Twilight zone...

The fading daylight is fascinating in many ways and according to my camera
the house shade of the lime wash paint today looked something of a newborn pig,
instead of the faded white/pinky color I worked so hard on when preparing it
and normally does. The air is pretty humid this time of the year and
while lime wash breathes the natural pigment changes slightly all the time.
Just a reflection as I decided to take som pictures late afternoon
and yes we have turned the clocks back for wintertime!
Today at 2pm we began bringing in the bumper harvest of our
winter apples. We are glad the tree survived last year's construction
chaos as we extended the kitchen with the bay window.
Seriously I don't know what to do with all the fruit,
so there will be plenty for all the birds that stay the winter.
They just have to watch out for the the little hunter,
who sits put inside by the bay window in order
to make his moves out the cat-flap.

Black friday.....

or more like having another antique sofa for a bargain in the kitchen!
The first one came with the house,
but was recently moved to the sun porch!
After some 28 years...
No kitchen without a place to stretch out....
Turning faces, I'm up for a weekend with them paint brushes.
I prefer a clean table during the day,
but of course I never say no for a nice
bouquet of pale pink crisp roses!
Sweet weekend
Anyone else up for painting

Sunny side up

at breakfast this September morning
This morning was really chilly outdoors, this is the first fall with the sunporch all set
and it's a big hit. With the sun it's even warmer than outdoors......
I had my first cup of coffee on the porch this morning,
when deciding to finally close up my garden for this year and move some plants indoors.
The kitchen sofa has now it's place on the sunny porch

Before...two years ago without the panes!

Pretty as sugar.....

I've never shared with you before
anything from my showroom.
This novelty from a british designer just lit up my life
and is about to be launched in Sweden.
My sample order was the quickest I've ever made
and I wanted to share it with you all.
Pretty pretty pretty......may be ordered in any fabric

 I'm deeply in love again
How about you?

❤

Autumn is here and this also means time's up for painting outdoors with linseed oil paint.
The temperature is not warm enough and it's getting pretty humid in the air.
We are really pleased for closing this job in time, although with some extra help.
All those panes almost drove us insane......a set of 6 antique windows and
a pair of doors that needed to be restored now close the kitchen porch
...and to mention the serious amount of the linseed oil putty.

This project took almost 2 years to accomplish, from the very beginning
finding the old veranda amongst a lot of recuperated building material
'til the very last stroke with paint. What happened in between is a long story!

The lemon tree is doing great by this kitchen entrance

Jamen....den är här nu!

La Petite Robe Noire
Idag får inredning och renovering stå åt sidan.
Reklam i all ära....men
denna var bedårande och svår att motstå!
En fyllig doft av black cherry,
a wink of rose, lakrits och black tea.
På min hyllkant står den lilla flaskan,
en alldeles underbar liten present till
vilken liten lady som helst.

Quick for breakfast

one of many mornings. My coffee is keeping warm under
the lid while I'm getting things done
The mornings are still bright and shiny,
we've had a week of warm Indian summer breeze, 'til today
The leaves are slowly turning shades towards fall......
Sweet weekend

One happy wife and I'm rather sure a very pleased husband,
starting the holiday off with building a cupboard for the kitchen.
Using a pair of some 150 years old windows,
constructing all the rest by himself.
I have to keep in mind that he's not a carpenter by profession,
but I'm getting more and more convinced he has a new career
after retiring from flying the world as a long distance pilot.

I love this new cupboard
and I ❤ my man!
